And every single one of my posts does not push them to anyone asking about speedy straps. I'm also a big fan of threading it through the spring bars the Vance Brand way, as in that great photograph.īecause I've bought a couple of ggb straps (various models) and they're good? Simple answer. HTH.I'm with you on this, Kizzi, having now owned several different velcro straps for my Speedy Pro. As you can get a good idea of what they should like from NASA images and auctions, it's obvious that many vendors don't come close beyond a length of Velcro with a steel ring sewn in at the end. As background, "the specs" are publicly available here, and as just about everything to do with NASA (except the logo) is copyright free, there's no impediment for anyone to follow the blueprint. It's the attention to detail that counts, IMHO With that in mind, ebay seller Susie50 has used the same materials and sells SEB12100030-202 (the long version) and SEB12100030-210 (the short ones in the picture below) exactly "to the specs". Or GGB? Please share the name of the company you are referring to!! National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors I highly suggest paying each a visit if you also share a passion for horology or watch repair. Oh, I like the packaging! Today the watchband arrived and since I had the watch at home I was able to put it to good use. Luckily there was a waiting list.Ībout a week back I received a wonderful email advising that if I was still interested, there were watchbands available and I could now place an order. At the time I tried placing an order, the manufacturer was inundated with orders and out of stock. These watchbands have become quite popular in the Omega community and that makes them a bit difficult to get a hold of. They are utilitarian and economical and most importantly, they look good. The watchbands Kizzi produces are identical to those issued by NASA during the 1960’s and 1970’s. This resulted in the Speedmaster being the first watch on the moon and now it is commonly now known as the Moonwatch. This was many weeks ago.Īs you may be aware, the Omega Speedmaster was the chronograph approved by NASA for operation in space during the Gemini and Apollo programs. I did reach out to Kizzi Precision Flightgear which is a small company in the UK offering replica NASA specification watchbands. Thus the need for an expensive bracelet became moot. I don’t change them daily or weekly or even monthly, so the poor Speedmaster has been relegated to the safety deposit box. I had originally planned for this piece to supplement my Navitimer but discovered after the fact that I’m not really your typical watch savant as I only like to wear one watch. Vintage bracelets can be had on eBay for several hundred dollars but I haven’t had the funds to invest for a while so I set about finding a suitable alternative. At the time I considered the job “done” even though there was a very important piece missing to the watch- the steel bracelet.Ī proper bracelet for a 1967 Speedmaster is a stainless steel model 1171. If you scroll way down to the bottom of my blog you’ll find a link to the Speedmaster project that I completed many months ago.
